Dancing Through The Doorway

I sing tenor to the floorboards

And soprano to the lights

The cabinets aren’t so mellow

But the armchairs keep it light

That piano in the corner?

Wishes that she still could play.

The curtains are a little down,

But the dust keeps them away

Oh what a lovely

Lovely day

With a melody

To make me sway

Lovely lovely day

Dancing through

Every doorway

The sun is smiling at me

And the rain washes my tears

The frogs and belles and buzzies

Keep away my fears

The house around the corner

I can wave to every day

The people I have yet to meet

But I’ve only got good things to say

I play checkers with the pitchforks

And bake cookies with the breeze

The carpet smells of honey and

And the feeling of “at ease”

The day is almost over

And I can’t wait for the dawn

When I get to sing and dance and play

And frolic through the lawn

Oh what a lovely

Lovely day

With a melody

To make me sway

Lovely lovely day

Dancing through

Every doorway

The sun is smiling at me

And the rain washes my tears

The frogs and belles and buzzies

Keep away my fears

The house around the corner

I can wave to every day

The people I have yet to meet

But I’ve only got good things to say
